To program the key yourself you need two working transponder keys.

Here is the procedure:

1. Insert an existing working key into the ignition cylinder.

2. Turn the ignition cylinder to ON (RUN) and back to OFF.

3. Remove the existing working key and, within five seconds, insert a second working

key and turn it to ON (RUN) then back OFF.

4. Remove second working key and insert the new key before ten seconds have

elapsed and turn it to ON (RUN). Leave it on for one second and turn back to OFF.

5. The security light will light up for three seconds to indicate that the new

key has been successfully programmed.

If you don't have two working keys you need to go to a locksmith or a dealership to have it programmed with specialty equipment.
I'am going to assume you want programming instructions for the transponder (transmitter responder) keys on a Ford Windstar.

In order to do the programming yourself you will need two already programmed keys. If you don't have two then you can't access your car's learn mode feature.

The Programming procedure is as follows:

5. The security light will light up for three seconds to indicate that the new

key has been successfully programmed

Does your 2000 ford Windstar have a chipped key?

The 2000 Ford Windstar does not typically come with a chipped key, as it was produced before the widespread use of transponder keys in many vehicles. Instead, it generally utilizes a standard metal key for ignition. However, some models may have had optional security features, so it's best to check your specific vehicle's key or consult the owner's manual for confirmation.
