You can't - the speaker covers are not meant to be removed from the package tray (you'll understand when you see the under side of it). Drop the back seats down, pull out the 4 plastic push-in "screws", and pull the whole tray out. You'll have to bend it a little.
I just changed the speakers in my 01 about a month ago. The speaker covers are mounted "TO" the rear deck. You have to remove the rear deck to change the speakers out. I left the factory covers on, because I wasn't sure I could mount the aftermarket ones back and look good. I believe they were held on with a washer and pop rivot type of setup. Hope this helps
When you open the trunk you should be able to see up underneath the speakers. There should be 2 gold Phillips screws that hold each speaker cover. unscrew these and remove the covers. then remove the four hexagonal screws that hold down each speaker. last, unplugged the grey connectors from each speaker and lift out.
You do not need to remove the door panel to change your speakers. Remove the speaker cover, by prying outward on the speaker cover retaining clips. Remove the speaker retaining screws. Remove the wiring harness from the back of the speaker.

Remove the door speaker cover. The cover is held in place with two retaining screws. Remove the speaker retaining screws. Remove the wiring harness from the back of the speaker. Reverse the process to install the new speaker.

remove the screws usually behind the door handle, also remove the cover tabs on the door grab on the panel and then remove the speaker grill and remove the three or four screws around the speaker not the ones holding the speaker in place.
