Most older GM headlight switches are removed by (diconnect battery) reaching under dash to the headlight switch and depressing the small release button at the top of the switch while pulling on the stem for the switch then unplug the wire harness. There is a stem nut behind the knob that fastens the assy to the dash surface.
Remove 2 nuts that hold it in place and disconnect it form the headlight. It should pivot out of position.
To replace the dimmer switch on a 1977 Corvette, first disconnect the battery to ensure safety. Remove the dashboard panel to access the dimmer switch, which is typically located near the headlight switch. Unscrew the old dimmer switch and carefully disconnect the wiring harness. Install the new dimmer switch by reversing these steps, making sure to reconnect the wiring securely before reassembling the dashboard.
Yes, the headlights should be completely identical.
Depends on the model of the vehicle. Older models have the switch on floorboard. Newer models have the switch on the steering column. Can not say unless you specify make and model. Corvette 1977

The dimmer switch is located on the turn signal switch. Pull it toward you to switch from low to high or high to low beam lights.
There is a vacuum line attached to the back of the headlight switch on the dash. When you pull the switch out to turn on the lights this allows vacuum to open the light doors through rubber vacuum lines. When you turn the lights off this cuts the vacuum to the lights and a spring opperates the doors and closes them.
