To fix the speedometer on a 1990 Ford Tempo, start by checking the speedometer cable for any signs of damage or disconnection. If the cable is intact, inspect the speed sensor located on the transmission for proper operation. Additionally, ensure that the instrument cluster connections are secure and free of corrosion. If these components are functioning correctly, consider replacing the speedometer itself, as it may be faulty.
