If you just bought this vehicle, perhaps you should find out with absolute certainty whether or not it has the correct diptick for that model.
AnswerBecause the 1990 thru 1994 Chevy S-10 and s-15 take 8 quarts to fill and don't show til 6 qts...use the dipstick when the engine is running to be certain:)
The 1987 s10 Blazer uses 4.5 quarts of oil. Make sure to check the amount using the dipstick as the amount could vary due to all of the old oil not draining completely.
4.3 L V6 takes 5 quarts of oil (5W-30), give it 5 quarts then start the truck let it run for a few minutes and check the engine oil dipstick with the engine off.... Your dipstick should never actually read "full" though. technically the 4.3L tells you it is 4.5 quarts (calculate the 4.3L and you get 4.5 quarts)
It takes 6 quarts. :) I have an 01 e250, the dipstick doesnt read correctly but I called Ford, they said 6 quarts.
My Blazer 4.3L vortec holds about 4.5 - 5 quarts

Approx. 4.3L or between 4.5 quarts Your dipstick should never actually read "full" technically. The absolute maximum amount of oil, with new filter should be 5 quarts. Most recommend 4.5 quarts max. Consult Chiltons manual.
