The door handle does not come off the panel slides around it, Make sure you have removed screws after that panel clips hold the rest.

Remove both screws in the arm rest, remove the plastic cover that goes around the door handle. I do that by inserting two small screw drivers between the cover and the actual door handle plastic and push the clips up. The cover going around has 4 plastic tabs one on each side holding it in. Then the door panel has to be pried out to disconnect the push pins in the door. There may be acound 8 pins just try to look in the side for each one and pry with a large screw driver near each pin. When all the pins are out then left up on the door panel to unhook from the door by the inside of the window. Then disconnect all the wires at the connectors on the inside of the panel.

The retaining clip on the end of the post that the switch is located on - how do you remove it?
Probably a bad switch in the drivers door.
Using a small flat head screw driver, remove the plastic screw cover in the doors arm rest handle. Using a nut driver and a 7mm socket, remove the 2 screws. Locate the clips around the door handle trim (4 clips on all inside handle trim pieces) and using the small flat head screw driver, gently press in on the clips releasing them from the handle assembly. Be sure to use your fingers to pull out on the trim while using the screw driver to depress the clips. Remove the nut you see there behind the trim. Gently insert the small flat head screw driver under the power window switch and begin to lift up on the switch with the screw driver. Use your fingers to pull the switch out when you can get a grip on it. After the switch is out unplug the factory harness from the power window switch. Once the power window button is disconnected, begin to pry the door panel away. I found it easiest to start this time in the top rear corner of the panel, and work your way around till all pins are released. Now carefully remove the door panel and set it aside.
