The Ignition Control Module on a 1996 Ford Thunderbird 4.6 is located inside the EFI or Electronic Fuel Injector. The EFI is the carburetor. Look for a cord that has a connector that resembles an HD Cable.

there is no ignition control module the coils are controled by the ecm in my 96 cougar 4.6l i found it hidden behind the drivers side front turn signal look thru the small holes, you will see the fins on the module!

Bolted to the alternator refered to as an internal regulator
Remove the 3 coils which are help on by 2 5.5 mm bolts each. The module is now free. Remove electrical connector from ignition module. - Tech JK -----------------------------------
It's called the EEC (Electronic Engine Control Module) or the PCM (Powertrain Control Module) It is located under the instrument panel on the floor tunnel ahead of the floor console. It has a ton of wires going into it.
