Generally, this means that a bulb is burned out, or that your flasher has died.
If you only experience the problem on one side, in other words, left signal only, or right signal only, you can pretty much count on it being a bulb. If it's on both sides, it's probably the flasher.

Just replace the bulb. They stop blinking when the bulb goes bad. Usually if a bulb goes bad it will blink rapidly. If it stops blinking entirely or blinks only sometimes your flashing relay may have went out. It's a small box under the steering column usually.

Change the flasher unit, change bulbs, bad ground, short in the wiring. i found in mine it was a bad ground at the pig tail what the bulb goes into. I had the same problems with both tail lights and back up lights. It was the ground on the sockets on all of the sockets. I just soldiered the ground wire to the side of the metal socket on all of them. It worked fine.
