Make sure you aren't leaking coolant into the crankcase. The engine will not start while there is moisture inside the distributor cap. Perhaps it was sprayed when you cleaned the engine, perhaps the car ran through some deep standing water and splashed the distributor... in any case, it must be completely dried out before the engine will start and if there is moisture in the crankcase it will condense to the inside of the distributor cap.
