That happened to my grandma. Her problem was that she had a twig stuck in her engine. Try checking your engine for faulties.
This keeps happening to me too. My key won't turn at all sometimes so I did some research and it is a common problem check out this site.

A more accurate description of the problem along with if its an automatic or manual transmission is needed.
is the battery fully charged?
Perhaps a blown fuel pump. Take a plug wire out and use a spare plug and set it on a piece of metal and crank it and look for the spark. This will eliminate an ignition problem.
its your rear swaybar links had the same problem with my 96 sl2 changed them and that fixed the problem no more creaking
The problem is most likely the fuel pump or possibly a problem with an electronic component. Have the fuel pump tested first.
Purchase a ECTS for around ten bucks....easy to replace.
You dont. They wont fit. You need to custom fit them
97 SL2 does not have a change oil light. Only the red oil indicator which means you have a serious problem
My mom's '96 SL2 recently had this problem, the battery was fairly new but we tried to jump start it to no avail. Had it towed and got a diagnosis of "flooded spark plugs" by her mechanic. The plugs were were replaced and car ran great for about 100 miles. Now, it still runs OK, but the darn "check engine light" is on...
No, there are no resets after you replace your radio. I would however check to make sure you put all the wires back on - and did not take something important out. Eric
Start by replacing the Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor
Of course it could be somethng else, but I have seen starters do this. I had a vehicle that the starter was apparently about to go out. When it was warm it would kinda seize up and not start. Another reason is if the battery is not strong enough it will cause a click sound and not start. It will still have enough amps to run other electric, but not enough amp to start. As the vehicle cools just enough power is going back to the battery to start it. This is either a battery problem or the alternator is causing this by not fully charging. A good auto store can check the start and charging systeme for you for free. Usually you dont have to take anything off the car wither. Well, I hope this helps you. Good luck. ------------------------------------- +1 on a bad battery or alternator. Get both checked at your local autoparts store.
