If you don't already have an oil filter wrench, pick one up at your local parts store. They're cheap and usually work well. Failing that, an old remedy is to drive a screwdriver through the filter body and use it's leverage to loosen the filter. I'd use this ONLY as a last resort. You're better off with an old filter on the car than a damaged one that leaks oil!
