If the speedometer in your 1990 Honda Acura Legend is not working, it could be due to a faulty speed sensor, a broken speedometer cable, or an issue with the instrument cluster itself. The speed sensor, located on the transmission, measures the vehicle's speed and sends that information to the speedometer. If the cable is damaged or disconnected, it can also result in a non-functioning speedometer. Lastly, electrical issues or a malfunction within the instrument panel can cause the speedometer to fail.
To install a speedometer cable on an '87 Honda CRX, first, ensure the vehicle is safely lifted and secured. Remove the existing speedometer cable from the transmission by unscrewing it, then disconnect it from the speedometer in the dashboard. Next, route the new cable through the firewall and into the interior, connecting it to the speedometer first, and then securely attach it to the transmission. Finally, check for any obstructions and ensure the cable is properly seated at both ends before testing the speedometer for functionality.
