remove drive shaft. remove large nut on pinion . using a puller, remove yoke from pinion.remove pinion seal. install new pinion seal.replace yoke. install NEW pinion nut,to correct torque specs. reinstall drive shaft.PS now is a good time to replace U-joints while u have drive shaft out
After removing the pinion nut, a 2 jaw puller should do the trick.
to replace pinion shaft seal you need to drop the drive shaft from the rear end then with large socket remove pinion nut from front of yoke remove yoke remove old pinion seal install new pinion seal reinstall yoke and pinion nut to specified torque re install drive shaft note now is the time to check and see if U-joints need replacing

Very common problem with Jeeps. Check out this forum. http://www.colorado4x4.org/vbb/showthread.php?t=85426&highlight=front+dana+seal+leak
Remove driveshaft, remove pinion nut that holds the driveshaft yoke on. Then remove the yoke and the seal will be behind the yoke.To pull the seal you need a seal puller or you could use a couple of screwdrivers to pry it out of the axle housing. Install seal & asm in reverse order.
At the yoke at the rear end (where drive shaft enters rear end)

The only seals on the driveshaft itself would be on the slip yoke. You're probably thinking of the pinion seal, which is at the front of the differential, behind the input yoke to the differential.
The pinion seal is shot. A mechanic can replace the seal and check for problems.
Pinion seal: Remove the drive shaft from the yoke. Pull the pinion yoke off the pinion shaft. Remove the old seal and hammer on a new one. Seal is about 10 bucks. Re-assemble Rear cover: Remove the cover bolts. Put a pan under the rear end and pry the cover off. Clean and re-silicone the cover Re-assemble. WARNING!!!!! Don't let the rear end run dry, will cost you pinion bearings in a very short time.
To replace the rear pinion seal on a 2005 Dodge Ram 2500 Diesel, first, safely lift the vehicle and support it on jack stands. Remove the driveshaft by unbolting it from the rear differential and marking its position for reinstallation. Next, use a socket to remove the pinion nut and pull the yoke off, exposing the old seal. Carefully pry out the old seal, install the new seal, reassemble the yoke, and tighten the pinion nut to the manufacturer's specifications before reattaching the driveshaft.
