Hi All
Yesterday I was 95 miles from home and I had a transmission leak from the filter.
I lost 3 qts of oil. I replaced the filter and put 3 qts back . The reason I looked under the hood was 2 fold. I kept stalling at my destination and the ABS light was on. The engine would stall only if I applied the brake pedal.
Six hrs later in panic mode ,having to drive 85 miles back home I found 1 solution.
Remove fuse from brake and I made it home. If I but the fuse back in and press the brake pedal the engine will die .
Okay my transmission was soaked with oil. I cleaned off all oil. I checked the wiring harness and it was clean .
**In front of transmission are 2 sensors or switches.
If I look at wiring diagram it shows Brake transmission safety interlock ,Brake sense switch and stop light switch all in series. Could one of these be my problem?
Another thing when I step on brake pedal the dash board left and right signals light up dimly .

On a 1994 Buick LaSabre why does the engine continue to rev up while driving even when the brake is applied ? or when driving why doesn't the engine return to idle when the brake is applied? I would check for a vacuum leak
Check the brake fluid level in your brake master cylinder in the engine compartment ( the brake light also comes on if the parking / emergency brake is applied )
There's a short to ground in the brake light circuit. When you step on the brakes, it diverts all the power in the car to ground, and stops the engine.
If the brake fluid level in the brake master cylinder is low ( in your engine compartment ) that will also turn on your emergency brake light just as if the emergency brake was applied
under the master brake cynider, drivers side, rear of engine
IT COULD BE A WORN ENGINE MOUNT. TO BE SURE, PUT YOU CAR IN GEAR PRESS THE BRAKE APPLY THE E-BRAKE AND ACCELERATE THE CAR IF YOU FEEL THE SAME SHAKING IS YOUR ENGINE MOUNTS. (BE Careful)
Sounds like the power brake booster is bad.
This one is easy. Brake booster diaphragm is ruptured, causing a massive vacuum leak, which will cause the engine to run poorly when the brakes are applied. A loss vacuum assist will make it difficult to stop the vehicle.
Engine stalling when applying brakes is usually indicative of a leaky brake booster. The brake booster uses and stores engine vacuum while driving to assist your braking effort (power brakes). When the booster's air diaphragm is leaking air, applying brakes causes a substantial vacuum leak in the intake manifold, causing the engine to stall.
It is a safety feature. You must pull in the left brake lever fully to engage reverse, if you try to put it into reverse without doing so, the engine will kill.
WHEN PUT IN GEAR KILLS ENGINE IF NO BRAKE APPLIED IT WILL DRIVE BUT IF STOPPED DIES
Yes, a blown brake light fuse causes the shift interlock to malfunction. If the interlock can't tell if the brake is depressed or not, it won't shift out of park. The brake light fuse is a 15A in the engine bay fuse box.
