rust on a vehicle as early as a few years old is not uncommon, most auto makers the past few years have used good rust repelent paint that allows cars to last longer however if you have rust on your car and you think its too early for that type of wear you may wanna take a few things into consideration, if you live in a coastal area, or live in a place that snows a great deal, you may be dealing with the salt content, salt is not good for steal parts, especially door panels and fenders, if your Jeep is rusting in a place you dont thing it should be doing that maybe you are experienceing build up of salt in that area. also pin holes made by rocks can sometimes chip your paint job enough to start little ares where rust can begin.
The nails should be covered by the shingles or caulk. They should not be rusting.
open tailgate. unclip the cables that hold tailgate level they will unclip from the top anchor post without using any tools.then lift tailgate from left side so as tailgate hinge comes up from pivot point. then slide tailgate little to the left and you should have tailgate in your hands

It should. A 2005 wrangler hardtop fits a 1997 wrangler.
they are reinstalled on the tailgate for safe keeping
Yes, relieves wind resistance.////you should not do this the tailgate could come off if not held down
pull down the tailgate and there will be two screaws or nuts on the inside of the tailgate where the light means the tailgate remove them and wigle the light and should come out the bulbs are on the back of the light
Yes, that should work.
I once had a 1987 that had the same problem! On the inside of the tailgate, at the top ends, there should be a small lever. You can flip them one at a time and it will un latch the tailgate!
To open the tailgate you have to use the key in the tailgate lock. If it is like mine, it does not always release immediately and you just need to push on the tailgate while the key is turned. You should be able to hear the latch release and then you just lift the tailgate up. If the shock absorbers for it are worn out it will be a slow hard lift to get it to open completely. l
You should use atf +4 in your wrangler transmission
Yes, that should fit no problem
