ABS I took out the fuse under hood till I got mine fixed. I replaced the hub that had the sensor in it and have not had a problem. The fuse just disables antilock feature.

Do front or rear brakes have more stopping power?

Front brakes have significantly more stopping power than rear brakes.

What affects a car from stopping?

BRAKES

Why are larger brakes prefered over smaller brakes in vehicles?

Larger brakes = shorter stopping distance.

What are the different types of road bike brakes available and how do they compare in terms of performance and maintenance?

There are three main types of road bike brakes: caliper brakes, disc brakes, and cantilever brakes. Caliper brakes are lightweight and easy to maintain, but may lack stopping power in wet conditions. Disc brakes offer strong braking performance in all conditions, but are heavier and require more maintenance. Cantilever brakes are commonly found on older road bikes and provide good stopping power, but can be more difficult to adjust and maintain compared to caliper or disc brakes.

Are rear drum brakes used during normal braking?

Certainly, all four wheel brakes are used in normal stopping. However, the lions share of the stopping power is from the front brakes, yes.

Does a 1980 Jeep CJ-5 Have Manual Or Power Brakes?

It may have either manual or power. I am not sure if the factory put them on but I have seen them with power brakes. To tell if you have MANUAL brakes look for the master cylinder ( this is where you add brake fluid ) and see if it is attached to the firewall directly. if the master cylinder mounts to a some what large round unit with a large black approx. 1/2 " diameter vacuum hose attached to it it is POWER brakes.

Why do you need front brakes?

The front brakes on any vehicle do most of the stopping. When you apply the brakes the weight shifts to the front of the vehicle. For this reason the front brakes are needed more than the rear. Try stopping a vehicle with just the hand brake which applies only the rear brakes.

Does a bad master cylinder cause brakes to stay on?

Not usually. It is possible for the mater cylinder get suck in the apply position, but the brake pedal would not return to the up position after stopping. A more common problem for the brakes to be stuck applied is a locked wheel cylinder or brake caliper, or a jambed parking brake. These issues will be at one or more of the wheels, so check there if your brake pedal is at normal height.

Why do you use front disc and rear drum brakes?

Front brakes provide about 70% of stopping force. Disc brakes have an advantage over drum brakes in that they can provide more stopping force without overheating (and thus loosing their stopping efficiency). I believe drum brake units are less costly to manufacture than disc brakes, so using them on the rear also saves manufacturing costs.

What are the differences between V-brakes and cantilever brakes, and which one is more effective for stopping power?

V-brakes and cantilever brakes are two types of bicycle brakes. V-brakes are mounted on the frame and use a cable to squeeze the brake pads against the rim. Cantilever brakes are mounted on the fork and frame and use a cable to pull the brake arms together, which then squeeze the brake pads against the rim. V-brakes are generally considered to have better stopping power and are more effective for stopping quickly.

How many pistons does each wheel cylinder have?

A wheel cylinder describes "Drum Brakes" - Drum brakes have one cylinder with two diametrically opposed pistons.
