Most generally it is the brake light switch that is attached to the pedal arm bracket assembly. The new part will probably require a minor adjustment to ensure the brake lamps illuminate properly. Pretty simple repair & not all that expensive.

My brake lights don't work on 96 Chevy Tahoe the bulbs are good and no fuses are blown Any ideas?

You may need to check your brake light switch. It is a small switch located on top of your brake peddle (up on the arm of the peddle). This switch allows the brake lights to come on whenever you push the peddle.

If fuses and bulbs good tail lights work but not brake lights a 2000 Astra what could be wrong?

Check the brake light switch it's self, it should be on the brake peddle arm or bracket. The switch should show open when the peddle is neutral and should show closed when the peddle is pressed. If the switch shows nothing either way then it's hooped.

What causes your brake peddle to go to the floor with out stopping?

A leak in your brake line, or very low brake fluid, both of which are extremely dangerous and should be fixed at once.

Why won't the brake lights go off?

Could be that the brake light peddle switch is stuck in the on position. It is located under the dash on drivers side on the upper top brake peddle arm. When the peddle is depressed it pushes a switch to enguage the brake lights, it's not a big switch about 2 inches square, if you push the brake peddle up and down while looking you should be able to see it. It has happened to me a couple of times. But be advised that may not be the only reason, but the most simple, and sometimes we overlook the simple answers only to find out that the simple was the problem. Good luck!
