There is not one simple answer. There are a multitude of reasons your trunk closing assist does not work. In the MB S500 the doors are close assisted and they operate on the same system as the trunk. Do the door close assists work and the trunk not? Broad questions get broad answers. You can go to the related link to learn much about how the closing assist works on the S series of MB.
Check the emergency trunk release handle. It is in the trunk area, at the rear of the vehicle. If it is not secured in the clip, it can get hung up on something in the trunk area and keep the trunk/hatch from closing. -Tim
with a crow bar. If the inside of the trunk can be accessed by removing the back seat, I would try that first.
Remove the item from the back which is preventing it from closing. Let's face it, you need to describe a little better why it isn't closing if you want a real answer
buy a fuse!
To replace the trunk lever on a 1998 Toyota Corolla, first, open the trunk and locate the lever mechanism. Disconnect the wiring harness by pressing the release tab and pulling it out. Remove the screws or bolts securing the lever to the trunk, and then detach the lever from the trunk lid. Install the new lever by reversing the steps: secure it with screws, reconnect the wiring harness, and test the function before closing the trunk.
I had a similar problem. The trunk latch on the way out, the micro switch wasn't closing and the trunk light was staying on. The design of the trunk latch is pony (plastic hook) - hence the "do not slam" warning tag. This may not be you problem but it's a good place to start.
We took the electric unit out of the trunk, disassembled it and wound the screw jack to the position needed to keep the trunk closed. This took a couple of times to get it right. We left the unit unplugged and now it operates as a regular, non-self-closing trunk. The electric release still works fine.
To close the trunk on a 2006 Mercedes, simply push down firmly on the trunk lid until it latches securely. To ensure the trunk light goes out, make sure the trunk is fully closed; it may take a little extra pressure to ensure it's sealed properly. If the light remains on, check for any obstructions or issues with the trunk latch that might prevent it from closing completely. If problems persist, consult your owner’s manual or a professional for assistance.
To turn off the trunk light in a Kia Sportage, you can either close the trunk securely or locate the trunk switch on the interior of the vehicle, usually found near the driver’s seat or on the trunk lid itself. If the light remains on after closing the trunk, check for any obstructions or ensure the trunk latch is functioning properly. If necessary, you can also remove the bulb from the light fixture as a temporary solution. Always refer to your owner's manual for specific instructions related to your model.
To lock the trunk of a Mercedes E320, you can simply press the lock button on your key fob after closing the trunk. Alternatively, you can lock the vehicle using the central locking button inside the car or by turning the key in the driver's door lock. Ensure that the trunk is fully closed for it to lock properly. If you have the keyless entry system, just walking away from the vehicle should also lock the trunk automatically.
AnswerYeah you can take it to the dealer but if you cant do that right now just do it manually. Take the key, put it in the trunk lock, turn it to the right then to the left and shut it by closing it holding the handle........that will definitely work :)
