The 350 Chevy came stock with the Muncie M20 or M21 4-speeds, the Borg-Warner T-10 and Super T-10 4- speeds, and the Saginaw 4-speed. The Saginaw is a light and medium duty transmission while the Muncie and Borg-Warner are both heavy duty. If you plan on driving it hard, avoid the Saginaw.
The automatic trans is a 3 speed. The manual is a 5auto a727 3speed.manual 4speed a833 or 4speed a435. no 5 speeds until 1989.

how many mounting bolts on 1997 3500 chevy 6.5 diesel manual transmission

Where the motor and trans meet on the driver side
Buy a motor manual with one in it.
yes just have to swap the computer, wring harness and sensors
The way I removed my manual trans was to start at the rear end. Pull the rear drive shaft, pull the front drive shaft, un bolt the transfer case from the transmission, support the transmission with a jack, pull the trans cross-member, pull the exhaust y-pipe, un-bolt trans from motor and there you have it.
