That depends on the type of failure.
If there is a problem with ignition, you may see a misfire indicator when you perform diagnostics, or there may be elevated hydrocarbons in the exhaust.
If there is a problem with the EGR or injectors, you may see elevated carbon monoxide and hydrocarbons.
If the spark-plugs and wires have never been changed, that's a good place to start.
If you've done that and still no improvement, make certain that the EGR is functioning properly, but the diagnostics should tell you that.
If everything else has checked out, try replacing the injectors. Reconditioned injectors are actually a good decision for older vehicles, since we don't always want to put that much money into them, and the reconditioned injectors typically work just as well as new.
Have it scanned to determine problem
yes it suppose to circulate the smoke if clogged smog test will fail
Depends on your state. Where I am a warning light on is a fail.
On some vehicle it does as it is supposed to be vented through a canister and not the cap for emissions reasons. Another reason you fail a smog test if check engine light is on.
It doesn't have one.
Yes, automatically.
Unless the vehicle is misfiring, or there is a Service engine soon light is on, having worn timing components will not cause you to fail smog
it's actually camaro. and they don't fail to begin with out of the factory, you must have done something to the exhaust to make it fail
Yes, but you have to have the PCM programmed for the removal. You might fail visual portion of a smog check, however.
A faulty EGR valve can cause a 98 Chevy to fail a smog test. The oxygen sensors should also be tested as they can also cause a 98 Chevy to fail a smog test.
Yes!
No, since the atmosphere is filled with smog and gas which blocks sunlight, making Saturn very cold, -170o C (-274o F).
