Fuel pump problem but more likely an ignition coil or HEI problem. To be specific it woul help to know the year and model. Y-THINK-Y
The mass air sensor sometimes would cause this problem
Had the same trouble, I changed the elect control module, not a problem to this day.
I would suspect a faulty fuel pump or fuel pump relay.
A lot of possible causes, I recommend a careful investigation.
