If it has the engine compartment designed for the large block engines, the 5.9 liter 6BT and 5.9 ISB will fit, with an electric fan.

Where is the starter and what does it look like on 2002 f250 ford diesel?
Cummins is made by Cummins. They are one of largest diesel engine manufactures in the world.
No
Ford IS NOT putting Cummins in their trucks. Chrysler Corporation and Cummins Diesel Engines, Inc. just signed a multi-year contract to keep Cummins engines in Dodge Ram Heavy Duty trucks. You can get a Cummins diesel in a Ford F-650 or Ford F-750. The F-250, F-350, F-450, and F-550 all have the Powerstroke diesel engines.
Not the F250, F350, etc. Dodge and Cummins just signed a multi year contract to keep the Cummins in the Dodge trucks.
The optional diesel engine in an '04 F250 Ford is a 6.0L V-8 Turbo Diesel made by Navistar (International)

What Year model
it is only in there F-650's and F-750's. Ford does not own Cummins, neither does Dodge. Cummins is a separate company.
Cummins owns the engine. Dodge just offers the computer instead of cummins. Cummins is a private company it is not owned by Ford or Dodge.
It seems to have a good safety record. Note that the F250 diesel is NOT one of the vehicles affected by the acceleration problem that's been in the news lately. The Ford F250 diesel has gotten some great reviews from consumers. Because it is a diesel the gas mileage is not that great as to be expected.
