A starter for a 1997 Astro Van typically resembles a cylindrical metal component with an elongated shape. It features an electrical connection on one end and a gear or drive mechanism on the other, which engages with the engine's flywheel. The starter is generally mounted to the engine block and connected by a couple of wires. Its primary function is to initiate the engine's combustion process by turning the flywheel when the ignition key is turned.
