like that.
No, the part itself is like $30 but your mechanic will typically charge alot for labor since the thermostat is hard to get to on the 2000 Jetta. My friend ended up changing it for me so it was really cheap! Hope this helps! its probably under the battery and housing like the 99 ..so the right side of the block(drivers side)
On the newer cars like the Jetta there is no timing adjustment as it is set on the fly y the engine computer in accordance with sensor inputs.
it should be by your thermostat housing
If it is like my 1991 Jetta, follow the lower radiator hose to the water pump housing. There are three bolts that are very difficult to navigate around. The thermostat is located behind those bolts. Don't know why they put the therm there, cause it is a pain in the rump and could have been alot easier if they had put some thought behind the design. You'll see what I mean.
Sounds like rear brake is locking up, on which ever side is smoking.
The longer side of the thermostat with the spring on it faces the engine. The small side that looks like it comes to a point faces the radiator.
no such thing...upper radiator hose usually comes out of the thermostat housing and into the radiator...that's big fat black hose. go check an autoparts website like auutozone and that'll show you.
The Thermostat is sitting inside the hole where u remove the water pump oddly enough -- it looks like u have to rip half the engine off to remove and replace the sucker - im here looking on how to remove and replace it without tearing the entire engine apart
I have the same problem. The man at the junk yard said it sounds like a short in the switch. I am going to check it out.
Check immediately sounds like your tire is rubbing on something and may in fact be coming offSounds like you have a bad wheel bearing.
Follow the hose coming out of the bottom of the radiator, it goes under the oil pan up under the exhaust manifold. I had that part out to get my oil pan off and it looks like thermostat up there. You need to take of the shield over the manifold to get at the bolts holding it on. I'm not sure if it is the thermostat but sure looks like one.
