no such thing...upper radiator hose usually comes out of the thermostat housing and into the radiator...that's big fat black hose. go check an autoparts website like auutozone and that'll show you.
Follow the hose coming out of the bottom of the radiator, it goes under the oil pan up under the exhaust manifold. I had that part out to get my oil pan off and it looks like thermostat up there. You need to take of the shield over the manifold to get at the bolts holding it on. I'm not sure if it is the thermostat but sure looks like one.
At the engine end of the upper rad hose. If you're looking straight onto the engine. Look for the exhaust manifold. Just left of the exhaust manifold you will see a coolant hose connect to what look like a adaptor. The thermostat is located under that housing.
There is 2 on the 96 2.2l. One on the metal hose coming from the heater core to the thermostat and another one right under the bend of the intake on the driver side on the housing that looks like the thermostat. Hope that helps
A thermostat always looks like a small rubber valve with a spring. It is inside the thermostat housing on the top of the engine (top coolant hose exit)
The top radiator hose is above the thermostat. If the top radiator hose is hot, the thermostat is opening. The thermostat is not the problem. Perhaps the radiator is clogged up or the water pump is bad. Look elsewhere.
like that.
I would replace the thermostat. This sounds like the thermostat is stuck open.
Follow the top radiator hose UNTIL it reach a metal neck-like- thing.Disconnect to hose Follow the neck to where it connects to the thermostat casing. Un screw the two bolts and and remove the thermostat from the casing.. You'll have to remove the air intake( The giant hose that will get in your way) ................
follow top radiator hose to the end, there is the thermostat in housing on end of hose. on 3.1 v6 it is under exhaust manifold! it looks like it would be hard to change but it can be done.
No, the hood from a 1997 Chevrolet Cavalier will not fit a 2004 Cavalier. While both vehicles are part of the Cavalier lineup, they have different body styles and dimensions. The 2000 model year introduced a significant redesign, which means parts like the hood are not interchangeable between these two generations.
"Sounds like the thermostat is stuck open." Did it used to?
Follow the top radiator hose to the engine. The top radiator hose is clamped to the thermostat housing. Two bolts fasten the housing to the engine. On V8's it bolts to the intake manifold.
