The 1974 Chevy truck has a mechanical fuel pump with a built in pressure regulator.
It is located right behind the intake,sticking straight up.If your sitting in your truck look right at the middle of ur windshield it will be located right in that area on the engine.
It is located just to the right of the distributor. As you look down on the right side of the distributor of under it you will see the sender.
The oil pressure sending unit on my 1997 silverado is on the top of the engine behind the intake manifold. It took a while to find it.I had to climb on top of the engine and look down to the block up near the firewall I was having eratic oil pressure readings and the sending unit was the problem.

If you craw up and lean over the top of the engine and look at the top right rear corner of the engine you will see it. It is just behind the corner of the intake manifold.
drop the starter from the motor and look up
The oil pressure sending unit is mounted to the oil filter housing on the back of the engine. If you look up from under the car at where the oil filter is there is a wire connector that attaches to a piece on the side of where you screw the filter on. That is the oil pressure sending unit.
look for the port with the black cap on it, it's the low pressure port.
look by the distributor toward the driver side

It's this little guy that sends signals to your dashboard to let you know if your oil pressure is good or if your engine is about to throw a tantrum. So, if your truck is feeling chatty and wants to talk oil pressure, that's where you'll find it.
