If the brake lights work the problem is with the shift interlock mechanism. There is a slot in the console with a plug in it. Take the plug out and insert a small screwdriver. This will allow you to shift out of park. To fix the shift interlock you must take the console off. The shift interlock is about $37 and easy to replace.
