Any 10w-30 or 5w-30 that's certified to the API level of your engine year. You don't need synthetic or anything fancy. I run Walmart super-tech in both of my Northstars - one has 100,000 miles on it, and the other is fast approaching 200K. ZERO engine problems. Change it when the Oil life indicator says to. Don't waste you money on any thing else.

Can you put oil additives in a cadillac northstar engine?

Yes, you can use oil additives in a Cadillac Northstar engine, but it's important to choose them carefully. Most manufacturers recommend against using additives that contain solid particles or are not specifically formulated for your engine type, as they could cause issues with the engine's intricate design. Always consult your owner's manual or a professional mechanic before adding any oil additives to ensure compatibility and to maintain warranty coverage.
