If your car over-heated and shut off while driving and now will not start at all is the head gasket blown or is the whole engine shot?

It really needs to be checked out but it doesn't sound good. It probably is ruined as the rings and pistons are probably melted.

What is wrong when the Starter engages but engine does't turn over?

If the serpinten belt broke and the car over heated what could happen and now wont star but it is still turning over?

Your serpentine belt probably ran all of your pulleys. Alternator, power-steering pump, ect... But the most important thing that it probably ran was the water pump that pushes water/coolant through the cooling system. Without that 50/50 water/coolant running though the radiator, your engine probably over heated and you blew a head gasket. Ouch..... You'll probably find that your engine refuses to start and you have water on your oil dipstick. I'm sorry, but if there where anyone I knew who doesn't know not to run an engine without the belt on, I wouldn't want them driving my car, let alone their own....

What could the problem be with my 1991 Chevy pickup 1500 only starts when it wants to I already had the starter and solenoid checked will not start when hot?

Since the starter is good but will not turn the engine over when hot, check the engine for free rotation. Turn the engine over by moving the crank by hand (with the ignition off.) The engine could be sticking when hot and not be able to turn over.

What could cause coolant to overflow even though engine temperature is normal on a cool day and no coolant was added?

The engine needs to be flushed.the coolant ports have a build up of gunk causing the engine to run hotter. The heated water expands to much causing it to over flow from the reserve tank.
