code 44 means O2 running leanI got this code 44 on my 1994 Chevy Blazer. It is telling you that your oxygen sensor is running lean. This code was generated due to a failing fuel pump and an exaust leak forward of the oxygen sensor. Once i tightened my headers and replaced my fuel pump the error went away.
I also recommend that you replace your fuel filter.
