yes torque converter is locking up just unplug the wire that goes into convter it will disconect overdive but it will run better imediently
The square connector on the front of the transaxle is for the locking torque converter.
sounds like the torque converter is locking up, bring it to a transmission shop.

A transmission that stumble upon acceleration between 2nd and 3rd gear may need to be flushed. Another possible cause is that the torque converter is locking when shifting between gears.
It most likely disengages overdrive which if its an automatic transmission, so it'll prevent the torque converter from locking up and will probably keep it in 3rd if its a 4 speed.
if a 4 speed transmission locking torque converter may be stuck, unplug the wire at the transmission to check, could also be the crank shaft sensor
whichever it originally came with. the locking was not so common.
