It depends on many factors - city & state and driving record are the biggest issues. Also, is this a single driver policy in the name of the 16-yo? If so, upwards of $5000 for the year. If the child is listed on a family-member's policy, it could be more reasonable, but that depends on many factors as well. Any vehicle for a 16-yo is going to be pricy to insure if you put comp & collision on it, even if it's an 89 Dodge Colt.
