The recommended temperature range are as follows
10w30: -13 F to 100 F (-25Celsius to 38Celsius)
10w40: -13 F to no limit (-25Celsius to no limit)
In other words the difference between the two oils You are hesitating is, the 10w40 has same performance at low temperatures, but works well also above 38C/100F
10w30 the recommended weight.
10w30 in the summer and 10w40 in the winter.
10w30 or 10w40 should work fine in most climates.
4.2 quarts of any engine oil 10w30 or 10w40 for summer.
As long as the engine is ok you can use: 10W30 10W40 I recommend using Vavoline.
10w40 is thicker (but only when hot, they are the same thickness cold.)
10w30 or 10w40
It is recommended to use 10W30 oil in colder temperatures during the winter months as it flows more easily at lower temperatures compared to 10W40 oil, which is better suited for warmer temperatures.
10w40 or 10w30
10w30 or 10w40
SAE 10w30 unless the engine is worn which in that case uses SAE 10w40.
10w40 in summer and 10w30 in winter. Any heavier oil will cause lifter noise. I have also found the engine on 10w40 will only tolotare about 1/2 quart of lucas oil.
