to my knowledge 1980 Chevy v8 engines didn't have ignition points, and dwell settings are for points.
what is point setting for chev 350 v8 engine Use dwell meter to set the gap to 30 degrees dwell.
Set by dwell 28-32 degrees (approx. .017)
I'm pretty sure that all General Motors V8 engines use the same dwell setting. Most likely you have a distributor with the little pull up door and points with the Allen screw adjuster. The setting is 28 - 32 degrees dwell so just set it as close to 30 degrees dwell as you can.
Dwell should be 28-32 (approx. .016) Don't remember timing settings sorry
The following Chevrolet trucks have diesel engines: Chevrolet Series D V8, Chevrolet "small block" V8, Chevrolet W V8, Chevrolet Generation 3, Chevrolet Stovebolt.
v6 229ci produced 110hp v8 305ci produced 155hp v8 350ci dropped from 190hp from 1980 to 165hp in 1981
1977 305 doesn't have points unless the distributor has been replaced with an older design. Point gap on any V8 Chevrolet is 30 degrees dwell.
The 2013 Chevrolet Corvette has a V8 engine.
The Chevrolet 350 V8 does not have a timing belt. It has a chain. The Chevrolet 350 V8 does not have a timing belt. It has a chain.
the 80's Fords all have solid state ignition systems that are computer controlled, so you can't set the dwell like in the 60's which would be 30 degrees or 0.015" gap for the V8.
.016 to.018 per set or 30 degrees dwell. Each set will have to be set seperately from the other.
Chevrolet first built a 4.7l V8 in 1917. But when merged they merged with General Motors in 1918, discontinued production until 1955, when V8 production resumed with 4.3l V8 for the C1 Corvette. (NOTE: Chevrolet did not build the first V8)
