WOW WAY TO NAME ALL OF THEM LOL it is the crankshaft position sensor and either knocks sensor or camshaft position sensor First off if you a have a 3.1 it is the KNock Sensor. Crankshaft sensor and cam sensor is on the belt side of the motor. Crank is on bottom behind the big pully and cam is on top(half way up) usually under Power Steering pump
The knock sensor, in your 1997 Chevrolet Lumina, can be found on the front of the engine. The knock sensor is near the top of the engine.
It is on the passenger side of the engine block, aprox above the starter.

Its just above the oil filter, between the filter and the starter; its a tight fit. FYI the bolt is an 8mm.
On the 1997 Mazda Miata, the crankshaft position sensor is located on the engine block, near the transmission bell housing. It is typically positioned on the driver's side of the engine, just above the starter motor. You may need to remove some components for easier access to the sensor.
On a 1997 Chevy Lumina, the solenoid switch is typically located on the starter motor, which is situated near the bottom of the engine, close to the transmission. It is a small cylindrical component attached to the starter and is responsible for engaging the starter when you turn the ignition key. For easier access, it may be helpful to lift the vehicle and remove any necessary covers or components.

To change the camshaft position sensor on a 1997 Chevy Lumina, first disconnect the negative battery cable for safety. Locate the sensor, which is typically positioned near the engine block, and unplug the electrical connector. Remove the mounting bolt(s) securing the sensor, then take out the old sensor. Install the new sensor in reverse order, secure it with the bolt(s), reconnect the electrical connector, and finally reattach the battery cable.
Just had this done on my 97, along w/ other work. It cost me around 325.00 for the crank sensor.
Seized engine? Weak or dead battery? Loose or corroded battery cables? Bad starter? Bad starter solenoid? Bad neutral safety switch?
