The 90's Chevy half-ton pickups had a tow rating of 5500 lbs regardless of the engine size. I don't believe that Chevrolet ever put a diesel in a half-ton pickup. It would have had to have been custom installed. The 6.5L Diesel only had a tow rating of about 6000 lbs in the 2500 and 3500 pickups. The 6.5L Diesel was nothing special.
half a ton
The towing capacity of a 1994 Chevy 2500 with a 6.5-liter turbo diesel engine typically ranges from 8,000 to 10,000 pounds, depending on the specific configuration and drivetrain. Factors such as axle ratio, transmission type, and whether the vehicle has a towing package can influence this capacity. It's always best to consult the owner's manual or a dealership for precise specifications related to your specific truck.

3.08 makes a good ratio for economy. 3.55 for more power when towing.
i would put a 700r4 that's a good one for the gas per mile and towing or 350 turbo for the other
The E4OD transmission in a 1994 Ford F-250 7.3 Turbo Diesel has a maximum towing capacity of around 10,000 to 12,000 pounds, depending on the specific configuration and equipment of the truck. This transmission is designed to handle the torque and power output of the 7.3L turbo diesel engine, making it suitable for heavy-duty applications. It's important to consider the overall vehicle ratings and ensure the truck is properly equipped for safe towing.
The towing capacity varies depending upon the transmission, rearend and other options. Triler life magazine has ratings listed on their site, I'm not sure how far back they go. Based upon my personal knowledge, the rating should be somewhere between 6500 and 10,000lbs.
