The surging issue in your 1991 Ford Capri convertible when accelerating could be caused by several factors, such as a vacuum leak, a malfunctioning mass airflow sensor, or fuel delivery problems like a clogged fuel filter or failing fuel pump. It may also indicate issues with the ignition system, such as worn spark plugs or faulty ignition timing. Diagnosing the problem would require checking these components systematically to isolate the cause of the erratic behavior during acceleration.
The surging issue when accelerating to 2000 RPM in your 1991 Ford Capri could be caused by several factors, including a vacuum leak, a faulty mass airflow sensor, or issues with the fuel delivery system, such as a clogged fuel filter or failing fuel pump. sounds like typical transmission problem
Year, make and model would help.
There could be several reasons that your 1995 Chevrolet pickup truck, will not accelerate and idles rough. The most common reason is a plugged fuel line.
mine is doin the same thing
If a car starts and idles but does not accelerate can be numerous problems such as a malfunctioning throttle position sensor, fuel regulator, Manifold Airflow sensor or vacuum leak. A diagnostics test will reveal what is malfunctioning and needs to be repaired.
cause if its idling at zero rpm the motor is off ...
Probably just a leaking intake gasket. When it's surging, try pressing downward (with most of your bodyweight) on the intake. If it settles out you need to replace the intake gasket.
Very good chance the spark arrester screen is clogged. Remove it and give it a good cleaning then replace. Pretty good chance that will fix it.
Most likely its the throttle cable, if not I would check the linkage between the gas pedal and the throttle body.
The fuel filter probably needs to be replaced. It could be stalling because of a major vacuum leak. Check the PCV valve and all the hoses.
If it has a carburetor, it is the flush pump on the carburetor. If it's fuel injected it could be a lot of different things.
