CHECK THE TIMING
12 volts with the engine off. 13.5 to 15-5 volts with the engine idling.
Check the sensors, mine did the same thing and it was the sensors
Have your sensors checked.
The idling speed cannot be adjusted for fuel injected models. It is done by the ECU depending on inputs from various sensors. If the idling is erratic it is best if the car is taken to the vauxhall dealership who have testing equipment called TECH 2 which diagnoses the problem. Check your grounds, wiring & plugs to start. The grounds on the engine are a good place to start
Idle speed is set by the engine control computer, if yours is too low it has to be caused by an outside source, check for air flow, air flow sensors, throttle position sensors, or a dirty throttle body.
An engine may hesitate and experience unstable idling due to various factors, such as a dirty or failing fuel injector, a clogged air filter, or issues with the ignition system, like worn spark plugs or ignition coils. Additionally, vacuum leaks or problems with the engine's sensors, such as the mass airflow sensor or throttle position sensor, can disrupt the air-fuel mixture, leading to rough idling. It's essential to diagnose the specific cause to ensure proper engine performance.
A car that is stopped with the engine running.
The 1987 Chevrolet Corvette oil pressure should be between 45 PSI and 40 PSI. The idling oil pressure will be slightly less.
Not sure if this will help but try this answer on another site. http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20060623092709AAKy5vf
The idle is not adjustable. You have other problems if it's idling to fast are to slow. The throttle plates are calibrated / preset at the factory. Is the check engine light on ?? If it is, then you need to have the engine scanned with a engine scanner to check the emission system and sensors. It will also help your idling problem after you repair the problem that made the check engine light come on. If you don't find your problem in that area. then PLEASE ask your question again.
water in the fuel can cause an idling motor to sputter and/or die.
