For VTi variable transmission, only use DEX-CVT (P/N 22688912). 4 cylinder only I think
For automatic transmission use only Saturn T-IV Fluid (P/N 22689186). 6 cylinder only I think.
This information is from my 2003 2.2 Saturn Vue owner's manual
Check your owner's manual index for 'Transmission Fluid' to be sure.
If you use the wrong fluid it can cause permanent damage to your transmission. If in doubt fork over the $ and let an authorized Saturn dealer do the work. If your dealer has closed call a GM dealer.
Hope this helps
To inspect the transmission fluid in a Saturn Vue, make the vehicle stand on a level surface and allow it to warm up to regular operating temperature position. Find the transmission dipstick (usually labeled), remove it, clean it, put it back and then take it out to read transmission fluid level. The fluid must be within recommended limit and be of good quality with reddish color. When it looks dark, burnt or low it is time to replace it or top up the right fluid type. When there are issues with shifting and transmission problems even after a fluid checking on your Saturn Vue then you may require a substitute. To add transmission fluid to a Saturn Vue, locate the transmission dipstick, which is usually found near the back of the engine bay. Remove the dipstick, clean it, and then use a funnel to pour the appropriate transmission fluid into the dipstick tube. Always check the owner’s manual for the correct type of fluid and ensure the vehicle is on a level surface while checking and adding fluid.

The 2002 Saturn Vue uses Dexron III Automatic Transmission Fluid. It's important to ensure that the fluid meets the required specifications for optimal performance and longevity of the transmission. Always consult the owner's manual or a professional mechanic for the most accurate information.
Take it to a Goodwrench certfied shop. The transmission in the Saturn Vue has no dipstick, so requires service by a certified mechanic. Unless you have a leak, which you would obviously see, there is no need to check the fluid level.
The 2003 Saturn Vue typically holds about 4 to 5 quarts of transmission fluid when changing the fluid and filter. However, if you're performing a complete transmission fluid change, it may require up to 10 quarts, depending on the specific transmission type. Always refer to the owner's manual for the most accurate specifications.
i have a 2003 Saturn vue and there is no dipstick for the transmission fluid. its a plug. you have to take you car to a shop and get them to check it... i know it sounds crazy. but they usually have to put it on a lift to get to it.
To add transmission fluid to a 2004 Saturn Vue, locate the transmission fluid dipstick, which is typically near the back of the engine bay. With the engine running and warmed up, remove the dipstick, wipe it clean, then reinsert it to check the fluid level. If it's low, use a funnel to add the appropriate type of transmission fluid through the dipstick tube until it reaches the correct level. Be careful not to overfill, and always consult your owner’s manual for specific fluid specifications.
