If it is an automatic transmission it should use Dextron 2 type of Transmission Fluid. If it is a standard it will use a heavy gear oil. Auto parts stores should have the volume needed if you are doing a fluid change.
type of fluid for 5 speed manual transmission
on the transmission

4 quarts.
This is commonly a problem with the transmission filter or fluid. Replace the transmission fluid or have your transmission filter taken in for maintenance.
According to my factory service manual a 3 speed transaxle uses 5 quarts of transmission fluid.
There is a plug on the side of the tranny. take it out. If fluid runs out, put the plug back in the hole and get on with life. If no fluid runs out, check your manual for what transmission fluid to use. Fill it till it runs out at the plug a bit. Be sure to use the transmission fluid recommended for Chevy S10 5 speed manual transmissions.

It is important to maintain the fluid levels in a car, and it is important to put the right type of fluids in the car as well. A 1989 Chevy Pick up uses Dexron III transmission fluid.
The right type of fluids at the right type of fluid level keeps a car running smoothly. The 1994 Chevy S-10 5 speed has a transmission capacity amount of 5 quarts.
