hopefully by 80 u mean 8000 rpms i'd say ur idle is set too high because the car won't idle at 80 rpms once it goes below a certain point it cuts out so i'd say find a way to loosen the throttle cable
You ask her whats her problem.
I had the same problem with my Camaro (also a 99). The alternator was beginning to go and it was arcing. I had it tested and the problem was so small the test did not register the problem. As soon as I replaced it though, everything worked fine.
Im having the same problem on my 92 V6 Camaro. Someone told me to check all the vaccum lines. That's what I'm gonna try next.
If your 1997 GMC 5.7L Vortec has a misfire at an idle but not while under throttle, the problem is likely the timing. This can be adjusted.
i dont no if anyone finds out please let me know!!!
Believe Saleen as it has been modified while Camaro SS is a stock Vehicle
Whats your question...?

It all depends on whats wrong with. If it's complicated it's best to just take it to a certified repair-man. If you break it while trying to fix it it really your problem.
