If your 1997 GMC 5.7L Vortec has a misfire at an idle but not while under throttle, the problem is likely the timing. This can be adjusted.
Under the Throttle Body
Im new to the eclipse game, but my eclipse had the same problem. Are you getting fire to the coil. If not check the sensor on the back of the motor under the intake, possibly the throttle position sensor, im not sure what the name is but it works, i promise.
Check with the dealer, it might still be under recall
Under heavy acceleration the transmission will not quickly downshift.
What vehicle? (It is possible that if the transmission is conventionally controlled that there is a cable that connects throttle body to tranny and aids tranny to downshift under heavy acceleration.)
Under the motor cap that says 4200. Vortec it has a few bolts and a wire to the throttle body and a PVC for fuel so be careful it's easy it u make it hope it helps
under the plastic cover that says vortec there is a huge aluminum cover called a planum disconnect the hoses to that remove the throttle cable unscrew 5 bolts i think it is remove the planum under that is what u be looking for
It happens in my grand cherokee. somone told me its a loose ball joint in your transmission. A: IF THIS CONDITIONS OCCURS WHEN THE ACCELERATOR IS IN ONE POSITION (STEADY THROTTLE) THE PROBLEM IS MOST LIKELY TO BE A DEFECTIVE THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR.
It's under the the plastic Vortec labeled cover on the top of the engine
i have 1989 GrandAm Pontiac 2.5 engine misfire when under pressure when driving over 69mph or sitting still accelerating
pcv valve is located under the throttle cable frame (frame holding the throttle cable) that's bolted to the intake manifold. go to autozone ask for a valve and you will have no problem locating it.
Yes, under passenger side of the dashboard.......
we have just finished a 1996 Blazer with 4.3 vortec and found out that the electrodes under the cap do not match what the configuration on the top of the cap this could be your problem, has fixed ours hope this helps, the guys at Mid-East services Inc, waynesville office.
Under the hood on the top of the motor will say VORTEC.
the ecm is the vechicles computer and is located under the hood.
If only under load then......spark plug leads.
sounds like a cranksenser.it will put your timing out when your under load .markstang
