On the transaxle(transmission) bell housing, on the driver's side. there should be a little window cut out on the top there are some notches there. That's the timing marks.
If you have a 6 cylinder 3.0L the timing marks are located on the crankshaft gear for the timing belt (its just a notch on the rear of the gear just spin it clockwise until you find it) that lines up with a notch that sicks out from the block just above it. The camshaft marks are little arrows on the camshaft gears which line up with little marks on the cover plates that close the back of the gears in (about 1 o'clock)
What are the timing marks for a 1997 Nissan Altima gxe 2.4 cylinder
To align the timing marks on a 1989 Plymouth, first ensure the engine is at top dead center (TDC) on the compression stroke for cylinder number one. Remove the timing cover or access panel, then locate the timing marks on the crankshaft and camshaft pulleys. Align the marks so that they are in line with each other; the crankshaft mark should point to the zero degree mark on the timing scale while the camshaft mark aligns with its corresponding mark. Once aligned, reassemble any removed components and check the timing with a timing light if necessary.
The timing marks can be found on the front main pulley and the flywheel. The timing marks indicate when a certain piston is at the top of its stroke.

To set the timing marks on a 2005 Chevy Aveo, first ensure the engine is at top dead center (TDC) on the compression stroke for cylinder one. Locate the timing marks on the crankshaft pulley and the timing cover; align the mark on the crankshaft pulley with the TDC mark on the cover. Next, check the camshaft timing marks, ensuring they are aligned properly with the corresponding marks on the cylinder head. If necessary, adjust the timing belt or chain to ensure all marks are aligned correctly.
