dodge never made a 500 cu. in. engine, the biggest engine in 1969 was the 426 hemi and it was rated at 425 horse and the 440 engine had 375 horse.
This vehicle was highly customized for the movie with a 500 horsepower engine. The car was a 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona

You didn't really provide enough info here. The 1969 Dodge charger came with several engine options. The charger with a 383 wouldn't be at all competitve in this race. The 440 six pack might be a better race and the 426 hemi would be real close. I think the Mustang would probably win but I do think it would be close. If you check Motor Trend or road and track from the era I'm almost positive you'll find a head to head test somewhere. The Cobra had like 500 ponies and was setup to race. The Cryco 440 push around 425 hp, weight a ton, in a race not even close. The Mustang's dropping would be dry before the Dodge got there !!
582 were made. 64 were Conv.
It depends on the year and engine you are talking about.. The current srt8 hemi charger and Challenger run the same #12.8, with the challenger having a slight mph advantage 113 to 112.6mph. Charger has better weight distribution but is slightly heavier(300lbs). 1969 hemi charger 500 manual 4.10s did 13.48@109(hot rod magazine) 1970 hemi challenger manual 4.10s did 13.1@107.12(car craft magazine).
It means that the charger is built to be used together with a battery that has a 500 mAh (500 milli ampere hours) capacity.

pretty rare as you don't see a lot of 69 coronets anymore, especially convertibles.
