Look for a small niple with a screw on head along the freon lines going to and from the air conditioning pump.
A 1999 Cavalier does not use Freon as a refrigerant.
R134a Refrigerant
Freon (R12) is no longer in production, and by law has not been used in any vehicle since 1995.
It does not contain any Freon.
It takes R 134-a freon.

The 2001 Ford Explorer A/C unit does not contain Freon (R12). Freon has not been used since 1995.
To test a 1995 Cavalier crank sensor you would need to get a mechanic's computer. They can put a sensor/fuse tester on it and see if it is working properly.
