go underneath your truck and on the drivers side of the transmission box there are two plugs one says drain one says fill. to check fluid level slowly loosen the "fill" plug until fluid starts to leak out. if fluid is leaking out your transmission is full and no need to add more. if no fluid is leaking out it is low. if you want to change your fluid completely open the "drain" plug and let fluid run out. re install the drain plug and remove the fill plug. you will probably find it quite difficult to get the fluid in there without a vacuum hand pump, so you can either remove the stick shift if so equipped, and add from the top, or just get a lengthy pice of clear plastic tubing and put a funnel on the end and just stick the tube into the fill hole and fill from there.
for auto transmissions i believe there is dipstick tube and you can fill from there
BE SURE NOT TO OVER FILL
Drop the transmission fluid pan. its there.
