Under the dash on the passenger side
Follow the heater hoses from the engine, they will lead you the heater core.
Sell your Ford junk its not the only problem you will have.

To replace the heater core in a 1989 Ford Econoline, start by disconnecting the battery and draining the coolant from the radiator. The heater core (a small radiator for your heat) is leaking, I would suggest a new heater core as they are about as cheep to replace as they are to repair.

Behind the dashboard, usually on the passenger side. Look in the engine compartment for the hoses that go from the engine through the firewall. Those are generally the heater hoses, which go to the heater core.
It is located on the pass/side next to blend door/heater core
The dash has to be removed to gain access to the heater box. The heater box then comes out and is split open to replace the core.
