Attached to the break pedal arm. Looks like a plunger like thing.
It's at the top of the brake pedal lever, near connector to the vacuum booster.
at the top of the break pedal its a little black plastic box with wires in it.
Possibly the brake light switch is bad. I had a recall on a Ford Taurus that spoke of this problem. The brake light switch releases a solenoid that holds the shifter in park.
If you mean the red " BRAKE " light in your dash is on , that means that the brake fluid level in the brake master cylinder located in your engine compartment ( on a Ford Taurus ) is LOW ( or that the parking brake is on )
