To fix the brake light on a 2012 Ford Taurus, first check the brake light bulbs to see if they need replacement. If the bulbs are fine, inspect the brake light switch located near the brake pedal; it may be faulty or misaligned. Additionally, check the fuse related to the brake lights in the fuse box. If all else fails, consult a professional mechanic for further diagnosis.
Check the fuses. If the brake light fuse blows it won't come out of park.
Go for the easy fix. The Brake Light switch (attached to the brake pedal) can cause this problem. The part number is SW-5034 and it costs $10-$15 bucks.
replace the brake line and then bleed the brakes
Check your brake lights,if they are not working it could be your brake light switch or a fuse.If you have no current to your brake lights you will have no current to your shifter release solenoid. If that's not it,could be release solenoid itself.
I had to replace the entire assembly at the cost of over $100! When you remove the assembly you will see there is no real way to "fix" this thing. It's self-contained with no moving or removable parts. There may be a way to fix it, but I think it's beyond the average do-it-yourselfer. Good luck.
You will need to change the brake light switch. The brake light switch can be found below the dashboard on the drivers side.
