The camshaft position sensor, on a Ford 6.0 liter power stroke engine, is located inside of the rear engine cover. The sensor is on the back of the camshaft.
The 2002 Ford Ranger camshaft position sensor is located on the back of the camshaft. The rear engine plate will need to be removed in order to view the sensor.
I'm not sure which engine you have, but, the 2.0 has the camshaft sensor on the drivers side of the engine, right in front of the distributer

The camshaft sensor on the 7.3 engine is mounted on the front of the motor. It is just above the crankshaft damper.
The camshaft position sensor on a 2001 ford mustang is located on the front of the engine. It is behind the power steering fluid reservoir.
I have the same engine in my 1995 Ford EXPLORER : I can't see the camshaft position sensor but from what I have read it is on the top of the engine , near the center line , at the back of the engine near the firewall

according to my Haynes repair manual the camshaft position sensor for the 4.0 L OHV engine is located at the rear of the engine block, on the top of the engine block
The camshaft position sensor is on top of the engine. It is on top of a shaft in the same place that older rangers had a distributor.

I'm not a mechanic / technician but from what I understand the camshaft position sensor on the Ford 4.0 liter EFI , V6 engine is on the top of the engine , at the REAR of the engine , near the firewall . You won't be able to see it ( at least I can't on my 1995 Ford EXPLORER , which also has the 4.0 , EFI engine )
